Bat Out of Hell

Post by muck912 »

I saw this show last Friday, opening week, at the Mirvish (formerly the Canon, formerly the Pantages) Theater. It it a musical with a paper thin plot, boring choreography, and 30 year old actors playing teenagers. But it has a great album by Meat Loaf to draw from and some great voices to bring the concert to life. Meat Loaf, Ellen Foley & Karla DeVito are nowhere to be found.

A few of the scenes take place off stage but are filmed and displayed on a large video screen. The special effects are numerous and mostly hokey. I'd only recommend this show to people in love with the album and just want to see a concert. The show dies a merciful death on Christmas eve.
