Broadway Poster Contest!

Post by angelenroute »

We are happy to announce a brand new..........

POSTER CONTEST!

In honor of the final show of BETM on Broadway, Billy Elliot the Forum and Friends of Billy Elliot are conducting a joint contest for the best design for a poster that will be given to the cast to express our thanks for a wonderful run.

Entries may be created using any method, including paper-based methods such as drawing, painting, or mixed media collage; or computer graphic design, and must prominently feature the names and web addresses of both forums as follows: Billy Elliot the Forum, http://www.billyelliottheforum.me.uk, and Friends of Billy Elliot the Musical, http://friendsofbilly.com.

The poster design must include some variation on the following messages:
“Thank you to the Broadway company of Billy Elliot the Musical for…”

and

“Please read our messages to you at …” followed by links to threads set up on both forums for members to express their individual thanks and good wishes to the members of the entire cast and company.

All entries must be submitted to the contest as .jpeg images of a resolution suitable for blowing up to poster size (1.5MB or higher). All entries will be displayed on both forums. Please PM angelenroute or deebeeeff for more details of where to send your entry. Only one entry per person, please.

Reminder: If you use photographs, please make sure you have the photographers’ or owners’ permission to use them. Photo credits must be submitted with entries.

Submission Deadline:
The contest begins on Tuesday, November 1, and submissions may be made through midnight EST, Thursday, December 1.

Judging and Voting: Three finalists will be selected by your two contest coordinators based on the quality of the design. Once the three finalists have been selected, the entries will be displayed in the galleries of both forums. The three finalists will be announced on Monday, December 5, and voting will take place from that date until Wednesday, December 14. We will ask forum members to PM their votes for the winner to either coordinator. Each member may cast only one vote. The entry with the highest number of votes will be the winner. The winner will be announced on Friday, December 16.

Prize: The winner of the contest will receive a copy of the poster that he/she designed.

Thanks for doing this, Sean and Dave :D I hope we get some great entries to choose from!

UK and all other international members, please do not assume that because you don't live in the US you can not enter the contest. ALL members are encouraged to get the creative juices flowing and enter.

Since the rules ask you to post a link address for a thread with good wishes to the cast, I have now set it up here:

I hope some of you are working on your posters. We want to let the cast of BETM on Broadway know how much we love them and thank them for over 3 wonderful years of shows.

The poster is intended to be our Thank You card to them, and will be handed in at the stage door to be hung up backstage so everyone working on the show can see it.

This is important, folks! We need your designs!

Reminder: The deadline for submissions is December 1. We have had no responses to this, and the time is drawing ever closer. :(

Is there really no one on here who wants to help us send our thanks to the Broadway cast? :?

Hallo everybody,

A poster design idea popped into my head recently. It is a collage of Broadway cast photos with the Billy jump silhouette over it and text on the silhouette. I have made a mock-up using David's Toronto collage, just to get an idea of what it would look like. See the mock-up here.

I don't have nearly enough photos to implement this idea. I would like to include every Billy and Michael and as many of the other cast as possible. Group photos are fine. I also don't have much time this week to work on it. So, I need your help to get this design completed. Let me know if you have photos or if you can help out.

Thanks,
Liam

As mentioned above, the deadline is this Friday night at midnight. I really hope Liam's great design idea can come together, but there are only a few days to do it. If you are able to help him in any way, please contact him! And if you have any questions or suggestions, for either Liam or me, please feel free to PM me as well and I'll be happy to help!

Just a reminder that we are still accepting entries from other members as well. This is a contest, after all. ;)

Of course. That should go without saying but yes, we're absolutely welcoming anyone to submit should you wish to. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
