Which Musicals Got >10 Tony Awards?

Post by Eltonjohn »

BETM on Broadway received 10 T.A.s

Which other Brdwy musicals have received 10 or more T.A.s besides Rent?

The most Tony Awards ever received by a single production was the musical The Producers (2001) with 12 awards, including best musical.

Hello Dolly (1964) won 10.

South Pacific (1949) won 10.

Incidentially, Rent (1996) received 10 nominations, but only won 4 Tony's that year.

And BETM actually received 12 nominations. Two were for Best Supporting Actor (Greg Jbara and David Bologna), but only one could win in that category. The other nomination that didn't win was for the musical score.

Actually, BETM received 15 nominations and won 10 of them.

In addition to the two that didn't win mentioned by Ellen, the other three that didn't win were for:

-Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical (2 nominations for Haydn Gwynne & Carole Shelley)
-Best Costume Design

Thanks. I thought there were more, but 12 was all I could think of at the time.

Whoops, I got Rent mixed up with The Producers.

So have there been any musicals awarded 11 Tonies?
