S C R I P T !!!

Post by Eltonjohn »

In the movie and in the show,

do the Billy characters refer to their ballet footwear as ?

'ballet slippers'

or

'ballet shoes'

When seeking an autograph I would want to phrase my request in character using proper Geordie vernacular e.g. Y'nooo? I'd reeelly FAAncy if y'cood sign me BA-lay shooz/slippers. WOODyah mahnd please?

At least in the US/Canadian versions they are simply called 'shoes', not even 'ballet shoes'. Since they are used in the context of a ballet class, saying 'ballet shoes' would be redundant. I believe Mrs. W. is the only character who mentions them at all.

Agreed, at my studio, we always just call them shoes.

London as well. Billy says to Mrs. W. that he hasn't got any shoes, at which point, she pulls out a pair of ballet shoes, hands them to him and says, "Well, you have now. Put these on."

It's just SMF saying 'BALay' in that seething, incredulous, condescending, over-my-dead-body, macho, no-son-of-mine, unfrench, Geordie-affected tone of voice! :D

Hi,
The website is Flickr, not Flicker. So the link you posted won't work.
