I saw this again on Saturday having seen it earlier in the year in Brum. It was every bit as brilliant. The non-professional dancers blended in magnificently with the pros to produce what was an astonishing, extraordinary and unforgettable two hours. How they all remembered so many finely detailed and varied dance routines I'll never know. As in Brum, Layton was majestic. What a dancer. In the foyer of the theatre, (which, btw, was sold out) framed photos of each of the non-pros were mounted. What a truly great moment for them to remember all their lives.
As Dancer has said, the Sadler's Wells theatre itself is a great place to watch a performance with perfect seating arrangements and rake. I was in Row A (not the front row, btw) and there was at least a yard of legroom which was very fortunate because Layton and a couple of the others walked down along this row with torches during the First Act and did not tread on my toes.

I completely agree with the sentiments expressed by Dancer and Pat. The show is sensational and the Sadler's Wells setting the ideal one for atmosphere. The energy and genius of the dancers outstanding. I look forward to seeing it again in Norwich next month. No wonder it is a sell out everywhere.

Lord of the Flies comes to Newcastle:

The 12 to 20-year-olds made the grade during a tough audition process despite some boasting Billy Elliot-style stories of never having danced before.

I have become more interested as more posts are made.
I wonder how many full time cast members stay with the show and how many "novices " are recruited locally.
No suggestions have been made about performing elsewhere, but I am keen to know the full time dancers.

Here's the cast page from Bourne's New Adventures site. The full time cast are listed here:

Here's the tour schedule:

Because of the nature of this production, where the Re:Bourne company works with local boys as part of its mission of UK dance education, I think it would be unlikely that this show would tour outside of the UK. Here's more about Re:Bourne:

Here's a nice article about one of the "amateur" boys selected to be in the cast of Lord of the Flies in Newcastle. I think the headline of the article says it all in terms of what Matthew Bourne's project has meant to boys in dance in the UK.

Re: 'Lord of the Flies' UK Tour - 2014
My school is currently rehearsing a more 'traditional' version of LoTF for performance in 2 weeks time. Being an all boys boarding school it will most likely be just like A Day in the Life of a normal student. Really looking forward to it. Last time I saw it I am sure it was a black and white movie.
Cheers
