NC Theatre in Raleigh still has BETM on its schedule. As I noted above, it is "produced by the NC Theatre Company," which I believe is a good indication that it will be locally produced. To add to that, I see that they are soon to be holding auditions for this summer's production of "The Little Mermaid." They will be auditioning both equity and non-equity actors, not only in Raleigh on April 6, but also in NYC on April 10 by agent appointment:

I further note from that page that any applicants under 18 must be registered students at the NC Theatre Conservatory for the Performing Arts, and may only audition with permission. Here is info about the conservatory:

I expect that we will see a similar call for BETM auditions around three months before the show is scheduled to run, and here is the answer to where they expect to get their kids for the show:

Re: Raleigh, NC
I posted this in the thread about the tour cancellation, but I am copying it here as well because it pretty much confirms that Raleigh will be a local production:

Re: Raleigh, NC
Still a bit unclear on how the Raleigh production differs from the one in Ogunquit or the Muny in St. Louis. Aren't they all considered regional - or local- productions now that the rumored Broadway-caliber tour was cancelled ? Was the Wichita version of the show that was cancelled part of the would-be tour ? If it was, why would they not be able to stage a version of the show like the ones which will be in Ogunquit, Muny and Raleigh ?

Re: Raleigh, NC
I think it's clear at this point that it belongs in the Regional Productions section. That's why I moved it back here.
The difference between this run and those planned for Qgunquit and Muny is that this one is planned for only a 5-day run instead of the longer time frame that both Ogunquit and Muny have scheduled. This is why when it appeared there was going to be another tour, Raleigh seemed likely to be one of the stops on the itinerary instead of a regional production.
Wichita and Dayton were both supposed to be part of the new tour, but they both pulled BETM from their schedules and posted notice that the tour had been cancelled.

Re: Raleigh, NC
Well, Wichita and Dayton clearly thought it existed. They advertised the show as part of their Broadway seasons. I believe that a tour was actually being planned, but the sale of rights to MTI changed the situation.

Thanks to debbiefan for finding this. I have copied it over from the "BETM Tour Cancelled" thread since it's certainly relevant here as well.

Here's a good article about NC Theatre, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary with the 2014-15 season:

Re: NC Theatre - Raleigh, NC
I know this isn't billy elliot related, but it does involve theatre. I think they are putting on Peter and the Starcatcher as their own show. Producing, directing and casting. Because according to the peter and the starcatcher site and a actor who in it, their final stop in the tour is this weekend. I could be wrong but it does sound like it. It's a good show I recommend to go see it.

Re: NC Theatre - Raleigh, NC
Based on the way their information works, I would say that "Peter and the Star Catcher" is a touring production. Those productions put on in-house by NC Theatre are shown as produced by NC Theatre. "Billy Elliot," for example, will be produced by NC Theatre. For "Peter...," it says presented by North Carolina Theatre and Broadway Series South, which, as far as I can tell, means it's not produced in-house, and is therefore a tour that is coming through.

This is an extremely interesting article:
http://www.newsobserver.com/2014/07/12/ ... rylink=cpyOther summer offerings at NC Theatre include a theater art school for younger kids and a “Boot Camp” to prepare aspiring young actors to prepare to audition for NC Theatre’s 2015 staging of “Billy Elliot.”
