I saw this!! It was so great!!
They didn't do flying. Angry Dance modified.
Marcel, the Billy, is amazing. His dancing, acting, accent are all spot on. His singing pretty good too. He goes to our local performing arts school in New Orleans, NOCCA- a freshman in high school.
The adults in the cast could do some work on the accent. But they were good. Mrs. Wilkinson the standout. Tony was wonderful as well, and dad close behind. The singing and the songs still give me the chills.
The Michael was decent with a wonderful singing voice and good dancing, but I'm not sure if it was him or the sound, but I could not make out everything he said. The sound at the theatre needed some work- had some instances of static throughout the show.
Overall, a wonderful local production which exceeded my expectations. Walked out of the theatre on a high.
I'm seeing it again tomorrow night!

http://www.nola.com/arts/index.ssf/2017 ... r_sce.htmlBest actor in a musical
2017 was a year in which a number of younger actors made their mark. Few performances, however, left such lasting memories as Marcel Cavaliere in the title role of "Billy Elliot" at Rivertown Theaters. He fit the role perfectly, appearing as an ordinary kid who has a natural talent. The raw potential and that drives that emerges gave Cavaliere one of the most impassioned performances of the year. His dancing showed a fluid grace and electric energy, but it was the complexities of the boy's emotions that the young actor brought out that made the show work.
