You can't say that about Paul de Leeuw! :o
In The Netherlands he is about as big (and popular) as Graham Norton is in the UK!

Jillis danced an amazing short solo ("Op eigen Benen" - "On his own Feet") the past (and coming) weeks at the beach of The Hague in Solo's @ The Sea with The Dutch Don't Dance Division. Here a photo after the show with choreographer Thom Stuart, after I had an interview with both.

Like I wrote in my review of the final show:

Those boys and girls have learned so much and after almost a year, now this production is over, you just hope that all of what they have learned will continue somehow.

Great that for Jillis the opportunity has come to continue on the stage. Best of luck to him on this great adventure!!

Two videos of Jillis as Billy:

Raise me up - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXlsgE4ZUOg

Electricity - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I501z6RJmnk

He put his own sensibility into the role and took it to another level from there, which I find very moving to watch.
His dancing is very tight and confident.

I miss the Dutch show...

There is another way
All for one.
And one for all
Take this and this.
And this and this
And this and this
And this and this.
Don't worry, lad, we'll never let you fall

Article by Musicalweb dated 17th March with a link to the crowdfunding site

Jillis Roshanali, known for Billy Elliot, is a crowd-fund action initiated to enable a study in New York. The 17-year-old Jillis is in fact adopted for the school year 2016/2017 level 6 of The American Ballet Theatre Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School (ABT / JKO), a program that is among the top international dance training. A unique opportunity, however, this study brings a lot of costs involved for the training and housing some 20,000 euros.

A start at the beginning is necessary in order to be able to make the final registration. Jillis tried to get funding from various cultural funds but it did not work. Most funds include only support projects or if you have a bachelor degree. Because Jillis quite like his dream would like to make, he has now started with this crowd-fund action. Would you support him then it can donate an amount on this page. His full page read below.

“I'm Jillis Roshanali and almost 17 years. Some will tell me of Billy Elliot the Musical. In that role, I may let a lot of people enjoy my dance. At age four I started dancing. Before I almost five years ago at the Royal Conservatory came up I followed my dancing lessons at the Leiden Ballet & Theater School. In recent years I sat there in training.

Ballet I did not actually the most fun dance class. But my passion I had for dance has become a big passion for classical dance, when I was allowed to join the Christmas ballet "Abdallah and the Gazelle of Basra" of the Dutch Do not Dance Division. I was also told I have to have talent. Last year, Kirk Peterson was a week in the Netherlands. He has been associated with the American Ballet Theatre as artistic director. I have had the opportunity to attend a ballet from him. He's back in New York recommended to me at The American Ballet Theatre Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School (ABT / JKO). This has responded positively to this school and send me invited a ballet movie.

To my great surprise and delight, I got the message that I was hired for the school year 2016/2017 level 6 of the ABT / JKO school. Unfortunately, the costs are different than those in the Netherlands here. Housing and training € 20,000. A start at the beginning is necessary in order to be able to make the final registration. Unfortunately I did not manage to get a contribution through cultural funds. Most funds support only projects or if you have a bachelor degree .. It really is a unique opportunity as a student to arrive at that school.

You should already have very good artistic and technical dance skills feature in which too much growth in his. It is taught in classical, neo-classical and contemporary dance. Training really is among the top international dance training. Michaela Deprince, coryphée us National Ballet has since completed her dance training. David Alvarez Billy Elliot on Broadway has been at that school. Dancing on stage is the most beautiful for me to do and then told people loved me. For a small dancer when I will open doors that would otherwise remain closed with ABT / JKO still on my resume.

I sincerely hope that dance / culture lovers an apprentice dancer would like to offer the opportunity to become a distinctive dancer. I therefore hope that my dream come true and that people also believe that it can really be donating, so I have them in the future they can let you enjoy my then on a big stage.”

:) Thanks for sharing this with us! Jillis already has 72 procent of his target with 17 days to go, as we speak. I'm sure he'll make it! (Now, to decide how much to contribute...)

If any English speaker wishes to make a contribution to this real life Billy story, the “walk through” below will help you to navigate the process. It is fairly straightforward. There is a minimum donation of €10 (circa £8 or $11)

On the Musicalweb page (link below) in Dutch you will see within the text deze pagina (this page) in red. Click this link

http://www.musicalweb.nl/jillis-roshana ... -york-2018

Having accessed the link there are various optional euro amounts in the right column. Choose one of these and again click a box of your choice. The term “of meer” means “or more” - you can overtype for example €10 and put €12.
There is a box titled “ik steun voordekunst met” - this is an optional extra 5% donation to “the arts” in general. Leave unticked unless you are feeling generous.
There is a box titled “Verder met Doneron” - this means basically do you want to proceed further with the donation - assuming yes click this box.
A new page with “Doorgan met Facebook” op “Emailadres” - do you want to proceed with Facebook or by Email. Enter your Email address. If happy to proceed, click on the green bar with “Doorgaan” - means basically go ahead
A new page with “Selecteer Hieronder Je Betaalmethode” - choose the card you want to pay with, and click the appropriate button ie Visa, Mastercard etc.
If happy to proceed, click on Doneer Nu (Donate Now)
A box will now display for your card details

Naam of Kaart - Name on card
Kardnummer - Card Number
Vervaldatum - Expiry Date
CVV - Security Number on rear of card

Click on box Marked “Verder”

The transaction should now be completed. At any stage up to the final “Verder” you can exit the site if you are uncertain about how to proceed, which will abort the transaction. I received an email very quickly confirming the transaction had gone through.
