Well....cross that one off the bucket list, then. ;)

2015 looks to be a great year for regionals in the US, where BETM will be in English. :) :D

Does anyone know how long it will play in Iceland? I'm seriously considering a trip next June.

This is an interview, also includes some nice photos and a short video. They still need to practice the Billy jump :D
The short video is the animated caption picture btw.

Here my translation:

Everyone can let their dreams come true

Three smart multitalents-in-the-making chat with Blær about all the world and his brother.

Blær sat down with Baldvin Alan Thorarensen, Hjörtur Viðar Sigurðarson and Sölvi Viggósson Dýrfjörð.

These days they spend all their free time with dance rehearsals at the City Theatre, as they deal with the role of dancing boy Billy Elliot.
Besides dance, they are also in acting and vocal training, but in their own words, this is a dream job.
They were talking with us about the theater, future dreams, showbiz and the way to the top.

Sölvi: I was chorister here at the theatre, that's sort of a performing arts school and we just always did practice some musicals. There are many actors and you really much look up to them. Every now and again there were children playing in a show and I dreamed of being like them, that's when I realised I am actually already right on that way.
Everyone thinks that way. But then I thought, I wanna get there even though the chances aren't pretty good. I went to several auditions for side roles yet to no avail. But I carried on and here I stand.

Hjörtur: Dream come true.

Sölvi: Everyone can let their dreams come true, you just gotta apply yourself.

Hjörtur: Don't give up at the start already, just because you don't like to do anything.

Baldvin: One can always do better. If you are about to give up, you can just imagine; These are just a few seconds of my life, I can do this entirely.

PICTURE

Sölvi: This is like a hundred percent fun but also one hundred percent hard. Sometimes it's just fun and maybe nothing difficult. Then again sometimes it is difficult and not very much fun. But mostly it's like kind of one or the other way around.

Hjörtur: I think I can speak for us all when I say that we get to act and sing and stuff definitely only in this showbiz sector. I'd like most to become an actor when I grow up.

Baldvin: Yes, I'm going to be like this Artist type. Something like an actor or a dancer or something.
There's naturally so much acting in dance. I don't want to tie myself down to just either.

Sölvi: Yes, it is enormously difficult to choose, but if I had to choose I'd say acting because there's more of what I like in it. Actually there is acting in dance and singing anyway and in acting there's a little singing and a little dancing thus it's all the same.

Baldvin: I have been performing in Selfoss (South Iceland) and this is the first time I will perform in a big theatre. I am as a matter of fact from Hveragerði.

Sölvi: Yes, I've also just appeared in several school plays in the small town of mine, Þorlákshöfn.

Baldvin: Before we came here to the City Theatre I did just Ballroom Dance.

Sölvi: Yes, me as well.

Hjörtur: I was just ready to practice for one and a half year. I've also practiced football and gymnastics though. But not any other dance.

Baldvin: I was totally ready to practice Ballroom Dance for five or four years, five after all. I was also in gymnastics for about a month when I was five years old, then I practiced swimming, badminton and basketball and karate.

Sölvi: Shall I review everything I've trained? Gymnastics, football, basketball, athletics and dance!

Baldvin: It's fun to do dance, after all there's so much freedom.

PICTURE

Hjörtur: Yeah, that's crazy really. You forget about everything and you get to think solely about dancing.

Sölvi: You disappear into yourself like into your own home. Now I enjoy tap dance a lot more.

Baldvin: Yes, Tap Dance is nothing in Iceland, thus it's really fun to learn it. So we are also studying ballet and jazz and modern dance.

Hjörtur: In dance, you get all of the space you need. It is very difficult to be a dancer though, physically.

Baldvin: And also mentally. Different dance styles wake different emotions. One type is that way and another is converse. It is very much fun to switch between them. I find it really nice to dance when we are all together somewhere with the teacher or when I'm just at home alone and somewhere to some music just start to dance.

Sölvi: Yes, it's actually best when you can just lock your room to do anything you want and there's nobody saying this looks weird or that you just need to try and do better, you do just all you want.

Hjörtur: I find it wonderful to dance on stage. I'm a little nervous to sing before a large crowd of spectators though.

Baldvin: I feel the most exitement with the anticipation of an upcoming good show, as you just certainly hope. You're just like, wow, I enthused the audience and you're happy with yourself. I believe it's gonna be great.

Sölvi: I think one gets nervous if it happens exactly the other way around and you realise there's not even one person laughing.

Baldvin: There are of course these days when nothing is gonna happen, I think. But who knows, maybe it comes to nothing this way. (? Is that an idiom, is it just me or is that rhetorical nonsense??)

PICTURE

Hjörtur: Many boys are afraid to dance.

Sölvi: They find it silly, but that's just because they're afraid of being bullied.

Hjörtur: We get teased sometimes. But one can live with it.

Baldvin: I'm the only one doing Ballroom in Hveragerði. So it's a bit like...

Sölvi: I have not really been teased. We were fairly many practicing dance in Þorlákshöfn, we drove always together into town. (maybe an idiom: We hung out together / It was rather us, rendering the town unsafe!) I practiced in fact dance in town.

Hjörtur: If others are mocking you because you dance then it's only because they're jealous that you can dance and they can't. Do not give up dancing because others find it silly, do just what you like.

PICTURE

Baldvin: Absolutely. Sometimes you just pause for a moment and think about it. No matter which project you're at, if you're struggeling with something, at the end you will overcome it. You only must carry on.

Sölvi: If anyone finds it silly what you're doing then he should just keep it for himself. Although he thinks so, doesn't mean it looks silly. All have different opinions; I like chocolate, but not all do. That's the way it is.
