I had a chance to attend 'Peter Pan Jr', performed as three shows this weekend, by the theater's Summer Camp Junior Players (ages 9-15). The costumes and set were fantastic (some of the set comes from Mary Poppins); the acting and singing was confident from all participants (and a nice mix of half boys and half girls). The music was, as far as I can tell, precorded. The audience was nearly full, with a lot of young children dressed in Peter Pan/Pirate/Wendy/Fairy costumes, ready to be photographed with the cast in the Meet and Greet after.

I was not the only one there who thought - for moment - that the young lad playing Peter Pan (Thomas Grant) was in fact Sam Faulkner; the likeness and bearing were uncanny!

And there was flying - Peter Pan, Wendy, John and Michael all took to the air on several occasions; clearly 'Flying with Foy' was put to use with great effect!

Full marks to the cast of Mary Poppins who not only gave up a free afternoon to see this perfomance, but who 'photobombed' the cast photos taken after the show. This is what makes theater exciting; to see and hear those who have achieved success turn out to support and praise those who are learning. I am certain more than a few of them saw themselves in the faces of those young actors, several decades ago! Perhaps some of those young faces will do the same, several decades from now, to the next generation!

Kory Geller, in the cast of Mary Poppins, has been writing about life behind the scenes at the OPH, in his blog 'Backstage Pass'. I am sure many of the cast of BETM would relate to his comments!

Cast member Adam Sarette has created a video "Twitchy That Walk":

The cast of BETM at Ogunquit Playhouse takes on a music video mash-up of the songs from the show, in a parody of drag superstar's RuPaul's "Sissy That Walk".

This is a lot of fun showing scenes back stage, on the beach, and around town. You will see Sam, Noah, and Alec all show off some of their dance skills. Around 2:09 one of the female company members will remind long time fans of Tessa Netting. Also watch for Henry's take on Small Boy's famous line.
