I do not know if it has been mentioned before.....the Musical Director at Drury Lane is Colin Welford, who was MD on Broadway, Chicago and Toronto. Before the start of MCMT, while the 'Money for the scholars' was being collected, he would quietly play church organ Christmas carols, such as 'In the bleak midwinter' and 'O little town of Bethlehem'. When I read his bio, it soon became apparent why: he was organ scholar at Brasenose College, Oxford.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One of the bucket brigade cast members told me that the target for 'Money for the Scholars' is $15,000, and that they were nearing that goal.

Nicholas Dantes was the winner of one of three 2015 Joseph Jefferson (JEFF) awards earned by the Drury Lane Theatre. His award, Best Actor in a Principal Role won for his portrayal of Billy Elliot, was a first for the young actor.

In accepting the award, Nicholas thanked his parents and family for supporting him; director/choreographer Rachel Rockwell and music director Roberta Duchak "for taking a chance;" the cast and crew "for making me look good"; and Drury Lane "for saying yes."

"It's an honor being considered among such great actors", he said.

Director/choreographer Rockwell also won for choreographing "Billy Elliot."

"You only get a 'Billy Elliot' so many times in your career. You pray you get a Nick Dantes and Kyle Halford," said Rockwell, adding, "Thank you to Drury Lane for having the guts to do this play without cutting a word of it."

Congrats Nic and Rachel!!

I've stumbled across this great short clip of Kyle and Nic making their final turns at their performance at the Jeff Awards. They're totally in sync, it's amazing!

They were both great at Drury Lane; both deserve an award.

And throw in one for Michael Harp, too!
