Chat About Archbishop Stepinac H.S.
Re: The First Licensed Schools Production of BETM
Perhaps they could alter the 'dressing up' role of Michael, and Expressing Yourself, to reflect a more 'local' theme?

PS: According to an announcement on my local station, Moone Boy is coming to PBS in the US soon.

Great news: both series are on Hulu right now. Chris O'Dowd is a great comedic actor; he plays the teacher/priest in St. Vincent.

The Pope said "Who am I to judge?" concerning gay people. The times they are changing indeed. I do not think that this Catholic school will change much except the crude language. Michael will still be able to be a cross dresser.
Re: The First Licensed Schools Production of BETM
This school's drama department appears to have quite an enviable reputation:

Last year, Stepinac’s Drama Club was one of only a few schools in the U.S. that were licensed to perform Disney’s “Mary Poppins” which garnered top Metro Awards, the highest honors that high school production groups can win in the New York region.
Since 1949, the school’s Drama Club has won critical acclaim for its productions of fall dramas and spring musicals. It has also won the international recognition of performing in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The productions have nurtured the talents of many young students at Stepinac. Some went on to greater fame including Academy Award winner Jon Voight and Emmy-Award winner Alan Alda.
The Stepinac Drama Club is headed by Frank Portanova, Vice Principal for Academics and Curriculum who serves as the show’s Director and Keith Sunderland who is the Producer.

Perhaps then it's time for a cast thread to be opened for the Stepinac show and move these comments there.

I have created one single cast thread and moved the relevant posts into it here: http://www.billyelliottheforum.me.uk/fo ... 160&t=5508

Re: Chat About Archbishop Stepinac H.S.
I attended an all-boys Catholic High School on Long Island my freshman year, and Stepinac sounds very similar. While I can't imagine my very conservative school doing this show without making a (whether intended or not) mockery of the Billy and Michael storyline, I just noticed this blurb on Stepinac's website that helps me understand things a bit better in relation to the Roman Catholic Church:
SeanUntil September 1, 2009 Stepinac was part of the Archdiocese of New York’s Catholic High School Association. In the fall of 2009 Stepinac was granted local autonomy and is governed by an independent school board of trustees.
