Although quite ironic for a show which is partly about a union fighting for survival, the day was bound to come when a production would be casting scabs.

'Scab' is so 1980's. The new term is 'intern'. These kids will 'intern' for the production.

Brandyn Day has posted that he will play the role of Tony in the Patchogue Theatre (Gateway Playhouse) BETM production.

Prior to last Saturday's evening performance of 'Sister Act', Ogunquit's Artistic Director announced that the artistic director of The Gateway Playhouse was in the audience. There has been a long relationship of co-productions between the two theatres.

The audience was its usual quiet self as this news was announced. But when Brad Kenney announced that the Gateway would be presenting Billy Elliot the Musical in July and August, and that everyone should go see it, the audience absolutely erupted in cheers and applause.

With the permission of Mitchell Tobin's mom, Valerie, I'm thrilled to report that one of the Long Island Billys will be none other than Mitchell.

When asked on Facebook about her post entitled "Excited for the summer Billy adventures to begin today" (in Wichita), she replied "Wichita and then Long Island!"
