Alec and his parents came to the penultimate performance of Mary Poppins at the Ogunquit Playhouse last Saturday (Alec played the role of Michael in last year's production at the Maine State Music Theater in Brunswick). It was great seeing them again!

They shared the great news that Alec is currently understudying in the new musical Finding Neverland at the American Repertory Theater in Boston.

Somehow this little Youtube gem that Alec created several months ago slipped by without notice; one can see not only his nascent boxing skills (so useful for BETM), but the clever and creative way he approaches his art:

LOL. I wonder if Alec takes that ever present hat off when he goes to bed at night? :)

Alec's next project is a show called "The Big Meal" at Boston Center for the Arts, opening February 13th. These may be the first public photos of Alec without his famous hat.

Former National Tour Michael Griffin Birney played the same role in the 2012 Off-Broadway production:

Looks like they took a page out of "Billy Elliot" by using a generic name for his character in this show . . . . not "posh boy" or "small boy" but just . . . "boy." 8-)

Here is a review, from the Boston Globe; it does not mention Alec by name but cites the 'strong contributions from the rest of Miller’s nine-member ensemble'.

Alec will take part in i don't know where we're going but i promise we're lost with the Boston Teen Acting Troupe, July 30th - August 16th, at the Boston Playwright's Theatre:

“On one level this is a play about escaping transphobia. On a deeper level this is like some of my other family plays-it tells a story about young people combatting the demons they inherit during their adolescence. These three brothers, in their own ways, learn to become men.”
— MJ Halberstadt

"You know that one kid in every high school drama club that just blows everyone away? All the members of the Boston Teen Acting Troupe are those kids." - THE BOSTON METRO

This is Alec Shiman's photo from the Zeitgeist Stage Company's Facebook.

Alec took part in the Zeitgeist Stage Company's very well received play, The Big Meal, which leads the nominations in this year's Elliot Norton Awards:

From the interview:
Since I’ve done this role before in the past, I’m looking forward to what new takes I can put into it. I’m interested to see what will come. Also it’s theatre in the round, which is the first time I’ve done this. It’s going to be fun. I’m excited.
I think I may not be the only one, who saw his extraordinary take on this role last summer, who will be excited to see where he will take it next.
