Only seven performances, and ticket prices between $24-30. CMT stands for Children's Musical Theater. Here's a little more about the organization:
CMT San Jose is the nation’s largest musical theater and training program for youth of its kind.

The theatre states that BETM will be acted by children and adults from the local theatre community:
And the following month, a cast made up mostly of adults and Children's Musical Theater alumni will take on "Billy Elliot."
It also states that its Billy has been found:
Since the musical is all about an 11-year-old boy with a passion for ballet, it was important to find just the right person for the part of Billy. The role was awarded to Matthew Dean, a local ballet dancer.

"He's fabulous; he's a trained ballet dancer who can do it all," Zell said.

This article is about Kevin Hauge, who as Artistic Director, will direct BETM at CMT, San Jose. He clearly has extraordinary experience working with children in community theatre.

OK. To avoid that post vacation doldrum that hits me in the weeks after 24 days in London, I have just booked seats for this production.

April 29th evening and April 30th matinee.

Scream up to San Jose (a city I've never been to) stay the night and return southward after a Saturday matinee.

I had recently mentioned to a few people that student/regional productions of BETM were something that I was leery of and that hasn't changed. But to avoid the late April impending depressive state, I've signed on and will give it a go.

Of course any and all fans who know of San Jose should drop me a note or post here.

In for a penny, in for a pound.

tzwicky:

I played Mrs W in the CMT Marquee production these past two weekends. I was hoping to see you after the show, but I did not. Matthew says that he met you and you enjoyed the show, but I'm not sure if you are the same person he met. I am wondering what your response was to our production? I hope you really did enjoy it and that it helped you with the late April blues.
