Stage Entertainment, the production company of the Dutch show, has announced that mid next year Beauty and the Beast will start playing in the AFAS Circustheater. This means the Dutch show will stop playing sometime next year. An exact date hasn't been giving yet.

That is unless they are contemplating transferring it to a theatre in another city, perhaps.

Maybe. A tour is also possible. However, musicals usually don't play that long in The Netherlands. The longest playing musical to date is Soldaat van Oranje (Soldier of Orange). That show started five years ago.

Re: The Dutch show ends next year
In the article they say the Beauty and the Beast production has become to big to tour around and that they are not planning to "tone" the production down so it is able to tour around. I guess Billy Elliot is just as big or even bigger productionwise, so I doubt Billy Elliot will go on tour in The Netherlands, at least not in its current form.
Also, the show before Billy Elliot, Sisters Act, played until two/three months before Billy started in the Circustheater, so they might continue with Billy until March/April 2016?

Is it possible that the conclusion of the Dutch show will coincide with the start of the UK/Ireland Tour? I seem to recall that someone posted that the Dutch productions seems to have some link with the London company.
Re: The Dutch show ends next year
I'm not surprised. They announced long ago on their website that there won't be any more auditions for Billys and Michaels. However, the current cast could have made it through the whole next year, I guess (alternating mid-year, just like this year.) It's sad that this won't happen now. My guess for closing date is April 30. I'll try to be there! (and head over shortly afterwards for Billy-anniversary-week in London. )

Well, the set pieces like Billy's room are almost the same as those used in the American tour, maybe they need them for the UK/Ireland tour, but that's rather unlikely, no?kport wrote:Is it possible that the conclusion of the Dutch show will coincide with the start of the UK/Ireland Tour? Beauty and the Beast will start playing in the beginning of 2016. That probably means Billy Elliot wil stop playing at the end of this year. You can buy tickets online until November 21.

Re: The Dutch show ends this year?
Shit... shite... sorry. For the november date I've already booked London. Only three more shows in Scheveningen for me, then.
I just don't get why they're doing this. The Scheveningen-team is so great, and the location is absolutely perfect for a family-musical with kids. They should (and could!) have made it a "homebase" just like London for at least five years! (especially with Victoria Palace closing next year...)
