So 'Wicked' won Best West End show!?
It's just a glorified pantomime and although it's not bad as such, it's absolutely CR*P compared to our Billy! How stupid!

Have to agree with this. Despite being a self-confessed Wicked fanboy, I've always said that it contains very little substance in comparison to other musicals. For me, the attraction lies in the fantasy storyline, the special effects, and perhaps the intelligent songwriting (not to mention a certain *ahem* rather attractive leading female . . . )Muppet wrote:So 'Wicked' won Best West End show!?

Billy should've won.

These were the results then. War Horse is justifiably brilliant - but how on earth Wicked won it is beyond comprehension to me.
Best West End Show
Wicked 18.80%
War Horse 18.0%
Hairspray 10.10%
Billy Elliot 9.20%
Jersey Boys 9.20%
We Will Rock You 8.80%
Les Miserables 7.6%
The Lion King 6.5%
The Phantom of the Opera 6.20%
Mamma Mia! 5.5%

I'm baffled by all the results! I've seen all of them except War Horse, so can't comment on that, but Les Miserables takes some beating as a piece of theatre which is a work of collaborative genius - it's inspirational, plus technically and artistically brilliant - and been running for 25 years! AND it only got just over 7% of the votes - BIZARRE!StevenKing wrote:I'm more concerned HAIRSPRAY finished ahead of Billy!!!

As a Les Mis... well...hater.. i'm pretty chuffed about that Cats ran for ages too, doesn't make it good in my book If i chose the best musicals to be the longest running i'd pick West Side Story and Sweeney Todd Genius. Re: WHATSONSTAGE THEATRE AWARDS
This is not to be confused with The Laurence Olivier awards.
