Fantastic. I've heard that the RBS in London has seen a huge increase in the number of boys applying since Billy Elliot came out. The film and the musical each gave a sustained boost to boys' interest in dance. I understand that of all the national ballet schools in the world, the RBS has the highest fraction of students who are male.

A great article - and Australian to boot! I know when BETM was in Sydney that there were a number of media articles about the noticeable increase in boys participation in local dance schools. In fact 12 months later, the Board of Studies which oversees the Higher School Certificate - equal to GCSE in the UK, reorted a marked increase in male students undertaking artisctic based courses such as Drama.

Good the see such a positive effect for these kids
Cheers
