BYT 2010

Post by porschesrule »

Lee Hall and Musical Supervisor and orchestrator, Martin Koch, have adapted Billy Elliot the Musical for use by schools and youth groups. Hall has also announced a program where such groups can perform the musical around the U.K. and possibly even take part in a culmination of their effort by performing in a Billy Youth Theatre West End Gala at the VPT in July, 2010.

The full article about this program can be found at: http://www.theatermania.com/london/news ... 22937.html

Adapted amateur version of Billy Elliot

Post by pexcornel »

Pick up your dancing shoes to follow in Billy's footsteps.
The search is on for a dance star in the making to appear in Billy Elliot.
CODYS Productions has become just one of 300 organizations to be granted rights to perform an adapted amateur version of the hit West End and Broadway musical.

Here's another print interview with Lee Hall. Couldn't see any point in starting a whole new thread.

Enjoy. :D

Articles about the local BETM productions

Post by ERinVA »

Here's an article from This is Staffordshire: http://www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk/ne ... ticle.html

"TEENAGE thespian Sam O'Rourke is hoping to land a starring role in next year's Billy Elliot musical in Stoke-on-Trent – to help catapult him to the West End.

The 16-year-old, from Newcastle, was one of 140 hopefuls, aged 10 to 19, at Newcastle Community High School yesterday to audition for roles in one of 2010's biggest shows.

North Staffordshire actors have a strong pedigree in Billy Elliot adaptations after Clayton actor Leon Cooke played the boy dancer for 20 months in the West End's Victoria Palace.

Such an excellent initiative. It is scheduled to be performed at Richmond, Surrey in early April.
