After the demise of the Broadway production, it is time to look at the good things that will come out of this sad occurence.

It is time for the rest of the world to experience the story and inspiration of Billy Elliot The Musical. The Tour is more important than the Broadway production. The closing of BETM on Broadway should result in greater income for the tour, especially in the Northeast States. Greater income is necessary to support this large and expensive musical play.
In these hard times, most families can not afford a New York vacation and a Billy Elliot hit. This could cost several thousand dollars. But a local BETM could cost only several hundred dollars.
Tens of millions of people, who could never afford a trip to Broadway, live in the Eastern USA. Small cities near New York will have better ticket sales when those of us who love the show will drive or fly to see it. The Broadway end can help prevent the Billy Elliot The Musical Tour's end.

Just a quick note to those who saw Billy Elliot The Musical only in Philadelphia. You don't know what you missed when they cut out the flying scene in Dream Ballet. Support the tour and see the whole show in Washington, DC. Drive, fly or take the train(best). Hurry, as the tour moves on after Sunday, January 15th.

A quick note to those who live in southern Pennsylvania or western Maryland who are thinking of seeing the tour in Pittsburgh. Pennsylvania law prohibits minors(and maybe miners :D ) from performing the flying scene. Hurry to Washington this week to see this unforgetable scene. It's only a little over two hours from Harrisburg. You will never regret seeing the entire BETM at the Kennedy Center, and there is lots more to see in DC. Bring the family. Support the tour. Hurry, as the tour moves on after January 15th.

The good news is that Billy Elliot The Musical will return to New York City someday, but only if the tour shows strong numbers. In the smaller cities, people have to be willing to drive some distance to see the show.

For the show in Cincinnati, those of you in Dayton are only an hour away. Those of you in Lexington and Louisville are only an hour and a half away. Columbus is a two hour drive. BETM probably can not afford to promote itself in all these diverse markets. So let's try to promote it by word of mouth to friends and relatives in those areas.

Those in Columbus and Louisville will have the tour visiting your town later this year. That's great, because if you see the show in Cincinnati, you will really be looking forward to it being in your hometown. Support the tour, and see the show more than once.

Final Note- There are good airfares to CVG or CMH airport. Just don't bring checked bags unless you are flying Southwest Airlines to Columbus(lowest airfare $59- bags fly free).

The bright side of the demise of BETM could be the increased interest in the tour. Support the tour and spend a weekend adventure attending Billy Elliot The Musical around the country.

Example
Baltimore to Columbus $128 on 1-28-12 Southwest Airlines
Car rental(drive to Cincinnati) $ 22 Mid-size Enterprise and others
Best center house ticket $ 97 Orchestra.-- from Ticketmaster
Nice Hotel(close) $100 Range $50-$120
Columbus to Baltimore $128 on 1-29-12 Home within 24 hours

A fun weekend. If you can't make this trip, consider other tour spots around the country.

Attention, New York City BETM fans who can not afford to fly to tour cities. BILLY ELLIOT THE MUSICAL IS COMING TO SCHENECTADY, NY AND HARTFORD, CT IN OCTOBER, 2012. This is a perfect driving trip, and a great time for leaf-peeping. Support the tour, see New England and attend both venues.

Toronto fans of Billy Elliot The Musical. Support the tour. BETM will be in Buffalo in October, as long as people continue to support it. Visit Boston this summer and the show will be in your area for a second viewing in the fall.

The Bright Side would look a whole lot brighter if the darned tour would just come to Virginia. It keeps going back to states where it's been before, but it has yet to book Virginia. DC has been the closest it's gotten.

I would love to see the tour come to Norfolk around Thanksgiving. I'm sure that it would draw well.
