Just to say that yesterdays show was dreadful.

None of the 11 ballet girls could dance, all had two left feet and are so unfit they have obviously been at Tracey Atkins pies.
They don't even deserve to clean Kevin Keegan boots let alone have his signed photo.
Apparently they have been practicing for months, but we didn't even notice. When asked to perform, the leader stood up and said Nooooo.
They never brought on tall boy, but used small boy up front and basically he sucked all the way through the whole show.
It was a pantomine from start to finish, not just at the start of the second half.
When asked if we were enjoying the show, there was a resounding "No" which rather surprised the cast who then failed to tell us to tell your face - in yours more like.
The whole cast then packed their suitcase (very badly) and b*ggered off down the hole where they belong while the fans did the angry dance.
And the football was cr*p too.

Admin PS: {OK...it's not April fools...but you might indeed conclude a certain performance yesterday was a joke...}

How come? It's October half term then, which is why I'm going that week....and I'm doing 'Wicked' for the evening show that day.

Show cancelled tonight due to technical fault - which is why I'm on the Forum when i would normally be in the VP Theatre.

Hope everything is repaired for tomorrow.

Yes the show did start. Small boy got onto the stage and the film came on then 'bang' there was some sort of power surge down the sound system and that was it. So in reality, we saw 30 seconds of the show.

There was the usual announcement from the stage manager and then later on David the Company Manager but we all realised at 8.15 that there was no way the show could go on at that time anyway because they would have to cut so much to meet the stringent child laws on finishing times. In the event, I was still in the stalls lapping up the atmospher (as you do) at 9.00pm and the engineers were still frantically messing / repairing the back of the sound booth - it looked to me as thought they were in for a long session.

Yesterday evening (Monday 28th June) was another unforgettable experience in the life of Billy Elliot. Although, due to technical difficulties, the show had to be cancelled it was nevertheless a great opportunity to talk to a number of folk who had come along to see the show, many for the first time. The Theatre was absolutely full to overflowing ( I overheard the MD say that it was full house for the next 8 days) and clearly everyone was bitterly disappointed but there was a relaxed air of understanding about the circumstances and people took the situation in their stride and calmly departed from the Theatre over the next hour or so. Interestingly enough, although some were clearly waiting for the box office queue to diminish, many took the opportunity to relax and chat, take photos or just sit quietly. It was quite surreal. I was sat B17 Stalls next to two Canadian Ministers who loved the film; I had got talking to them before the show and even stuck my neck out by saying I’d eat my hat if they didn’t thoroughly enjoy the show – sadly that was never to be but I suppose my hat is safe for another day. We used the waiting time to discuss other things to do in London and they vowed to return to Billy Elliot before they return to Canada.

My heart though goes out to the many groups of school children who had obviously made considerable journeys to see the show – there was a real buzz in the auditorium as they waited for the show to start. How sad for them – no doubt, many may never see the show again as the opportunity has gone.

One last comment: it was lovely to see Ann Emery looking stunning in her two piece summer outfit as she was carefully escorted to a waiting taxi at the front of the Theatre by the resident Director, Nick Evans. It was also good of Nick to come across to our little group and share a few words of disappointment with us – much appreciated Nick – great piece of diplomacy.

How lucky I am to see the show so often – I’ll be there tonight and again on Thursday. Last night was not about my disappointment but the disappointment of the 1499 others who had come to see this wonderful and inspirational show.
