On his official FB page, Layton has posted that he will also be first cover for the character of Seaweed on the Hairspray tour, and he seems pretty excited about that. :D
So excited to announce my 'adult' musical theatre debut as Duane/1st Cover Seaweed in the Hairspray UK tour 2015/16.
I've always wanted to be in this show. To play Seaweed has forever been a childhood dream and I'm thrilled it'll finally come true.
I have a number of confirmed shows as Seaweed which I will reveal at a later stage...
Life is good.

Layton made his second appearance as Marco in Car Man yesterday afternoon. He shares this role with Liam who also plays Angelo.

Marco is a mechanic in a garage in the small mid-west town of Harmony and his costume reflects this. Baseball boots, jeans, white vest and open shirt. The mechanics are stereotypical macho guys apart from one, Angelo who is a shy gay lad. In the later scenes Layton has many changes of costume as his character is seen in a City Club and Diner. He is also seen in the shower ;) This is definitely not a family Show as there is powerful sexual element running throughout the story.

Layton was amazing. :D Although in a sense a member of an ensemble he stood out with his high energy dancing and his insightful approach to the character. His acting was excellent particularly as shown with a most realistic affection for one of the other mechanics. It was pleasure to meet him afterwards and talk about the role. He is clearly thrilled to be a member of Matthew Bourne’s Company and excited by the new challenges that Car Man brings.

I should say that the audience at the matinee stood and cheered at the end of the performance. Car Man shows its operatic roots in the fast and furious way it tells its story. Not to be missed.

Here's Layton's cast bio for the role of Duane in the upcoming UK tour of Hairspray. He posted earlier on his FB page that he is also the cover for the role of Seaweed.

Layton gives a great interview:
What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you on stage?

When I was performing as Billy on Boxing Day – stuffed and feeling tired – I was doing a trick where I run up a wall and flip backwards. Instead I fell on my head for the big finish. Such a fail! I got a pity clap. I definitely shouldn’t have had that last Christmas pudding!

Here's another interview with Layton as The Car Man begins its run at The Lowry, Salford Quays.

It's a good interview though the interviewer appears to confuse Layton with Liam Mower when the article calls Layton "the original Billy Elliot in the West End".
