Tom writes a blog entry for the Huff Post "Young Voices" blog about stem cell research and the fact that men, aged 16-30, are by far the most in demand as stem cell donors.

Tom's father, Dom, known across England as a performer in his own right and author of the popular book among us BETM fans called "how tom holland Eclipsed his dad" has written another funny (as usual) entry to his blog called "so how the hell did it happen then?" about Tom's rise to become Spider-Man.

It appears The Sun has taken a fancy to the latest flick in the Spiderman franchise, which opens today in the UK and elsewhere. Tom gets high praise!

The Daily Mail gives it a thumbs up, too:

Plaudits are heard, even across the pond, from the home of The Alamo:

There is even an Antipodean Cheer for this film:

Tom has been hard at work in preparation for his new role. George would be proud!

Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay Times has reviewed the new Spider-man film, with this rave comment about Tom:
In that regard, the breakout star of Civil War is Marvel's prodigal superhero, Spider-man, back in the fold after decades of stringing for other studios. It's a relatively small part but everything about Tom Holland's portrayal seems so right. For starters, he's the adolescent Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield couldn't fake, geeking about meeting Avengers.

I just went and saw captain America myself. He did a wonderful job portraying spider man/Peter Parker. To give you full warning he not in much scenes. Ones he was in was wonderful. To be honest only thing I'm disappointed is creators, I love character and everything but this is third time they recasting actor. I am hoping they will keep him"tom holland" around then recast character again. Hint hint. Also watch movie till end, he in it at the end also.

Final moments

Post by tzwicky »

Anyone who's been to a Marvel film should know that they cannot leave their seat until the lights come up in the theatre.

In this film, there are actually two inserted scenes in the credits.

Tom/Spidey is in the second one.

The credits run for 10 seconds I think, but the credit music is a great way to wind down.

I saw the film at the Cinerama Dome (think Imax and stretch it another third and then wrap the edges with a pronounced curve). The first two showing were in 3D. They finally showed it on the Dome screen in "normal" mode at the late show. They were also showing the film on at least 12 screens in this massive multiplex.

The final showing was at 1:45 AM. This meant I was driving home at 4:40 AM. But that can be a bonus, especially in LA where the traffic is heavy on the freeway till at least midnight. The 30 minute drive home took about 12 minutes.

Tom is really good in this film. He was played for a lot of laughs in this film, but every time he was on screen, I enjoyed myself a lot. Perhaps in his own film due out next year they'll give up on his squeaky voice.
