It was fantastic to see James on stage today as part of the panto cast of Snow White in Wolverhampton. I was able to drop in and see this afternoon's show as I was on route to stay with family for Christmas. I'm not a panto 'regular' but I enjoyed the show, which was very well supported. Excellent to see James enjoying his time so much on stage and (from his notes on Twitter) off stage as well. Looking forward now to hearing more details of his role in Starlight Express in Germany next year.

James has arrived in Bochum / Germany last weekend for “Starlight Express” together with the other new cast members - and due to normal procedures there (and due to his own Twitter announcement) his contract there is for one year plus 4 months.

Just a bit on Bochum and “Starlight Express” there: Bochum is a university city of some 370.000 in the centre of the highly industrialized Ruhr area in the West of Germany (the most densely populated area in Germany with more than 5.2 Millions of inhabitants closely around). The musical theatre there was built during the 1980ies just for this musical “Starlight Express” - and that has been running there - going from strength to strength - since 1988: so for 24 years now! Their system is that they change the cast very regularly - and “cast change night” is always the last Sunday in May - they call that night “Goodbye show” and then the new cast (officially called “The New Kids”) always start on the following Wednesday - and they call that “Premiere”.

So “The New Kids” will now have 3 ½ months of on-the-job training and getting together and then have their “premiere” on Wednesday 30 May - and from then on stay for one whole year until end of May 2013.

So it’s a “Big One” that James will be in - just what roles James will be playing in it we might only get to know much nearer to their “premiere” on 30 May sadly.
