George Maguire's identity?

Post by billeon acts »

http://www.marcbolanmusic.com/George%20Maguire.aspx
If this is a different George M. why is he using 'billy' george's biography?
& isn't there some kind of rule about two actors having the same name in similar jobs, does anyone know?
The other george maguire seems to have been in rent, fame and other musicals and is soon to be in hair for 1 day only (where I first spotted the mistake)
Is this a mix up, or am I the one who is mixed up?

This George Maguire is a legitimate musical theatre performer. Have seen information about him before. But whoever runs this site has obviously not done enough research to know that the bio they have included is for the wrong George Maguire.

I decided to contact the owner of this site to request that the misinformation be corrected. Here's what I said:
Dear Sir,

It was brought to our attention that your website has mistakenly provided the wrong biography for the George Maguire who plays Marc Bolan. George Maguire, one of the three original Billys in the production of Billy Elliot the Musical, is not the same performer as the George Maguire you show on your site, and to our knowledge has never played Marc Bolan.

Judging by his photograph on your site, the George Maguire you are talking about is the one who played Toby in the movie "Spiderhole," as you can see from the following link: http://www.spiderholethemovie.com/blog/ ... -that.html

Here are the correct George Maguire's theatre credits, which, as you can see, include "20th Century Boy" at the New Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich. As you can also see, they do not include "Billy Elliot the Musical." http://www.whatsonstage.com/news/theatr ... t+End.html

Here is the George Maguire who played Billy Elliot, pictured at the recent 7th Anniversary show of the musical on May 30, 2012, along with David Furnish and Leon Cooke, another former Billy: http://www.whatsonstage.com/news/theatr ... thday.html

Clearly the George Maguire you have pictured on your site and George Maguire, the former Billy Elliot, are not the same person; therefore, I would strongly encourage you to correct the biographical information on your site.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Best regards,

In trying the Whatsonstage photo link, I discovered that it did not take me directly to the photo I specifically mentioned, so I sent the site owner an addendum advising him to scroll through the photos for various shots including George as he looked on May 30. 8-)

Here's a review of the new musical "Lift." Does anyone know if the George Maguire listed as part of the cast is actually Wor George, or is it that other guy who was in "Twentieth Century Boy," mentioned a few posts back in this thread?

The link to the Wiki means nothing if past experience teaches us anything.

Unfortunately, it isn't Wor George in 'Lift' but "Twentieth Century Boy" George as confirmed in the programme (a friend saw the show on Saturday) and also confirmed on the official Soho Theatre website
at http://www.sohotheatre.com/whats-on/lift/

and on the official 'Lift' website at http://www.liftmusical.com
If you scroll down the cast names on the right you can click on George Maquire's profile and it displays his list of credits.

Cheers
