I was intending to see this in January at Sadler’s Wells - Matthew Ball as the Swan and Liam Mower as the Prince - but having just checked, every single performance in December and January is sold out . Now looking elsewhere on the tour. Review and trailer clips below.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I was just lucky enough to get a matinee cancellation by phoning the Box Office at Norwich where the show is heavily booked up.

The Stage 31st January Cinema screening May 2019 UK https://www.thestage.co.uk/news/2019/ma ... t-cinemas/ text also reproduced below

"Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake will be broadcast to cinemas in May, it has been announced. The production, which was first performed in 1995, was filmed live at Sadler’s Wells in London earlier this month and will be broadcast across the UK on May 21. It stars Will Bozier, Liam Mower and Nicole Kabera. Swan Lake, which is choreographed by Bourne, has design by Lez Brotherston and lighting by Paule Constable. Bourne said: “I’m thrilled that this brand-new production of my Swan Lake will be in cinemas across the UK from May 21. It has become a modern classic much beloved by the British public and throughout the world. Its popularity has never been greater and several generations of audiences have been inspired and moved by its universal story of love and acceptance. “Now 24 years after Swan Lake was first performed more people than ever before will be able to experience the dramatic power and mesmerising performances on the big screen.” Swan Lake is directed for the screen by Ross MacGibbon and produced by Illuminations. It is being distributed to cinemas across the UK by More2Screen."

Theatre performance reviews :-

Review #2http://ruthmillington.co.uk/review-matt ... swan-lake/

Review #2 includes an 8 minute video incorporating an interview with Matthew Bourne and others. Wheels within wheels - Liam Mower and Dominic North share the role of “The Prince” - at select performances the role will be danced by former ballet student James Lovell, who was previously training at Elmhurst Ballet School based in Birmingham city centre - attended currently by Brodie Donougher and Nat Sweeney, two former Billys’ from the last London performance.

Here's a nice article about how Liam's life has mirrored that of Billy Elliot. He's interviewed in the LA Times as he dances in Matthew Bourne's Cinderella:

Cinderella': Theater Review

Matthew Bourne sets the classic fairytale amid London's blitzkrieg, straddling the worlds of theater and ballet with his customary verve in a production that still feels fresh 20 years later.

Back to back Former Billys in the greater Los Angeles area.

Post by tzwicky »

I completely forgot that I had grabbed a ticket to "Matthew Bourne's Cinderella" way back when the show was first announced for Los Angeles' Ahmanson Theatre.

I'll be going on the 20th.

Sitting in the middle of F row, with my obscenely large binoculars.

The following night I'll be in Pasadena at the Boston Court theatre to see Colin Bates as Lord Alfred "Bosie" Douglas in "The Judas Kiss."

Much smaller theatre with general admission seating. I can get there waaaay too early and elbow my way to a closeup seat.

Who knew LA would be thick with former Billys?
