After not hearing anyting from the Houston Ballet for a few months, their latest email includes a list of the 2014 company, and Rhys is now listed as apprentice. This is a promotion from Houston Ballet II, where Rhys spent the last year.
Congratulations to Mr. Kosakowski, I look forward to seeing him perform this year !!

That's fantastic. I saw Rhys first performance as Billy in the early previews . I flew up to Sydney to see several early shows.

Saw him again in Melbourne and made a point seeing his last show in April, just 2 months before the end of the Australian season.

Sad to see him finish but it did open the Billy role to a new boy, who became the third Australian Billy to perform in the US.

I am very tempted to look at the no stop flight from Sydney to Dallas. Is there a train service for the side trip to Houston.

He is in excellent hands being under the direction of Australian Stanton Welch.

Here's a sample train schedule. Not ideal.

I would recommend that you book your flight to Houston Hobby (Houston's downtown airport) through DFW. American Airlines and Quantas code share so your ticket will probably be cheaper than the train. We don't use the trains much in this part of the U.S. The service is not very good. There are several hotels in downtown Houston within an easy walk to the theatre and the Houston Ballet building.

For Rhys' fans in the New York city area, Houston ballet will be performing at the Joyce Theatre in Manhattan October 22-27. I haven't been able to determine what role, if any, Rhys will play, but should be a good show reguardless.

More good news from Rhys, he has announced that, as of July, he has been promoted to and will be a full member of the Corps De Ballet of the Houston Ballet.

Congratulations to Rhys. He is moving up in the Ballet world, and is now making his living as a professional ballet dancer. Houston Ballet has a reputation as a great company to work for, and who takes care of their employees with amazing training and secure, rewarding contracts.

So, in the name of artistic freedom, Kosakowski swapped his regular 9-5 routine in cowboy Texas, for freelance life in Los Angeles, the home of Hollywood. Back home for a quick visit before travelling to Los Angeles. Interesting article and some old photos that take me back.
