Which is sometimes why I think maybe Stephen and Lee chose the line in BETM...or it may just be total coincidence.
James
..and the link is not through the Barmaid but through where she worked.

And my final clue before I bore everyone..

The answer is someone you could perhaps call a time travelling socialist observer of class.

I would count HG Wells a worthy answer as the clues fit him very well also.

The answer i was looking for was JB Priestley.

He wrote both An Inspector Calls ( which Stephen D revitalised some years back) and a play called the Rose and Crown.

The former about the hypocrisy and moral decline of the upper middle class industrialists in England of the 20s (read bankers...) and the latter about a group of good Eastend London folk moaning about their lot in life until their life depends on finding the positive.

JB Priestley is known for his "time tricks" which hollywood then transposed into what we now call "flashbacks" and alternate histories. CSI would be lost without them....

Stephen D uses a similar flash back technique when small boy as part of the current generation walks up the aisle back into history to observe the events of 95.

Sorry ..that got a bit convoluted...so over to you kport! Looking forward to your conundrum.

I'm going to suggest the following rules.....for clarity.

Names of Movies (TV or Screen) AND a connection with any production of BETM (not the Film unless specifically defined in the question).

Not strictly my turn but this topic has been quiet for 8 months.

What is the BETM "connection" with the "Brady and Hindley:Possession" TV documentary.
