Was it The Joker in the original Batman?

Now, for Something Completely Different.....................

I don't want to talk to you no more, you empty headed animal food trough wiper. I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries.

I think Americans know that one pretty well too. It's from Monty Python's Holy Grail.

Okay here we go:

"L'oisseau chant avec ses doigts."

What film, and by what director?

I don't speak French, but this is a very famous line from a very famous film, so I expect someone will recognize it.

I believe it is "L'oiseau chant avec ses doigts."

Um......high school French......'the bird sings with its fingers'.

A string instrument played with fingers.....a harp......a lyre......a lute??? A French connection?

The Greek legend of Orpheus? in French?

It must be from......Orphee (there should be an accent acute over the first 'e').....hence it has to be the amazing French poet, novelist, dramatist, designer, playwright, artist and filmmaker Jean Cocteau.

Quite a leap.....from the Pythons to Cocteau!

The following is from a film and a musical play - Its name, and the character who sings it:

So never kick a dog
Because he's just a pup
We'll fight like twenty armies
And we won't give up
So you'd better run for cover
When the pup grows up!

Yes, it's Orphee. Sorry for the double "s" in l'oiseau. I am aware of the accent marks in French, but my keyboard doesn't allow me to do fancy characters in this forum program without all kinds of extra steps, and copying and pasting for a letter here and there is simply a waste of time unless the word cannot be recognized, which is not the case here.

That's from "Crocodile Dundee" and was probably the best line in the film!

Who sang this and in which film?

"I used to think that love was something that I
Could take or leave alone.
But now I couldn't do without my supply,
I need you for my own."

I am stymied.

Either.......Death Takes a Holiday

or

Meet Joe Black.

Or even Lullaby of Broadway.

Frank Sinatra? The song is 'You're Getting to be a Habit with me' (We used to say 'Rabbit').

Honestly...the list is open to a number of answers.

It could be my former long-suffering secretary talking about me, or..........................

Jurassic Park. The Lost World. 1997. I think it was Dr Ian Malcolm, played by Jeff Goldblum.

My favourite lines from the film are:

Dr. Malcolm: 'Did you find him?'

Roland: 'Just the parts they didn't like.'

On to the next:

The film; and the link between this film and The Lost World: Jurassic Park:

'Forget the fat lady. You're obsessed with fat lady. Just get us out of here!'

Independence Day...and the link is Jeff Goldblum. I admit I cheated but I think with a 24 hour plus gap the rules should allow it, im ashamed I didn't remember the quote!

You lied!
I exaggerated.

Hello, fellow Billytomanes!
I'm sorry I didn't get back to you on my quote - a combination of illness and general lethargy!

Since my computer skills are pretty basic, I will re-quote.

I used to think that love was something that I
Could take or leave alone,
But now I couldn't do without my supply,
I need you for my own.

You were right Kport, it is from "You're getting to be a habit with me" by Al Dubin and Harry Warren. I think Frank Sinatra, among others, recorded it, but the original version was in "42nd Street", one of the first great musical films after the advent of sound. (1933?) It was performed by Ruby Keeler, who couldn't act, sing or dance, but who was rather pretty and, probably even more significantly, married to Al Jolson at the time!

I know a lot of quotations from old films, thanks to a mis-spent childhood and youth watching them on Saturday and Sunday afternoons on a black and white 12-inch TV. I know very few modern ones.

Anyway, I'll let you get back to your latest quote.

Kate

Real Steel. The boy playing Max is Dakota Goyo, who is in the upcoming film Noah. He also played Young Thor in the film of the same name. I saw this film on Netflix UK; I don't think it came to our local cinemas.

From another recent fantasy film:

P: So what happens when we get back?
K: I don't know. I guess we try to forget.
P: I don't wanna forget.
