I would say it was the letter or Billy/Michael goodbye at the end.

While I find the letter scenes especially emotional (even more if done by Tom Holland or Michael Dameski :!: :!:), I experienced on Broadway that the "take this and this" scene really touched me. It is so moving to see the miners or the women to go to Dad individually, giving what they can give. What a clannishness!

I think certain Billy's make certain scenes more emotional then others. Every actor plays Billy different.

For me it hasnt changed since I first posted this some time ago but for any new members it is the fall of the curtain at the end of the show (immediately before the Finale).

I find the whole experience very poignant and must hear the final bars of music before I start to offer my final applause. Billy has just finsihed singing with Dead Mum and wonders off to London, Michael enters on the bike and calls him back. Billy offers Michael a kiss and utters the words ' see ya Michael' Michaels response is 'yeh, see ya Billy' and Billy departs leaving Michael all alone on the stage whilst the music builds to a climax playing 'Love you forever, Love you forever, Love you forever' - No words are sung but in my mind, the band is only playing what Michael is thinking as he sees his friend and confident leave for pastures new.

Bloody heartbreaking actually!

Yes, the part in 'He Could Be A Star' where Billy just jumps into dad's arms is so incredible moving. I've only seen Dayton and Alex do it, and both were phenomenal.

I agree with Burtond that the finale is the most moving part for me. I hate goodbyes and this one even when I hear the soundtrack I get choked up. I only got to see Trent as Billy but I will never forget this show.

There is no scene which isn't moving in this play, and I'm kinda glad I had my first view alone with the bluray. Tears came flowing from the very first song on. Billy's "Take me up..." inbetween the powerful miners' anthem just did it for me. It's so beautiful and tragic at the same time. I may exaggerate a bit here, but it just seems to me this scene catches the whole tragedy of this world.

I would bet that most people would say the Letter and the Letter reprise were the most emotional parts for them the first time they saw the show. I also found the Dream Ballet to be very moving.

Once when I was at the Broadway show for a performance by David Alvarez, the woman seated next to me was in floods of tears during the Dream Ballet. She said to me that she thought it was the most beautiful pas de deux she had ever seen. It turned out that she was a dance teacher.
