North America Look Back

Post by inspired »

Here’s something I thought might be interesting. It’s a look back at my BETM performances seen over the past three years. It would be interesting to hear what others have to say in these or new categories pertaining to their own experiences. Obviously, we’re not going to list favorite Billys/favorite Michaels, etc. But I thought this might be an interesting read in the down time we have before Sao Paulo. Here are some of my impressions:

Best audiences: Boston
Worst audiences: Pittsburgh
Theater with best stage door access: NY, Toronto, Grand Rapids
Coldest stage door wait: Cleveland, Pittsburgh
Least-liked set: NY’s hydraulic
Least-liked visual: 2nd Tour’s dancing dresses
Largest theater: Cleveland
Most forum members/fans present: Grand Rapids
Deadest audience reaction, day of the week: Saturday evening
Best cast meet and greet: Cleveland (half the cast)
Most underrated performers: ballet girls
Longest applause after Electricity: Jacob Clemente
Most audible shouts during Angry Dance: Ben
Most surprising move: Lex, Tommy (wall flips)
Most f-bombs: Chicago
Favorite scenes: Angry Dance, Once We Were Kings, Electricity, end of Solidarity
Favorite blog: Dillon/J.P. (BE Brothers)
Most seen Billy: Lex, 3
Most seen Michael: Jacob Zelonky, 6
Clearest cast signature: Cameron Clifford, J.P Viernes
Most shows in one city: Cleveland, 5
Farthest travel distance to see a performance: Cleveland to Boston
First Billy/Michael pair seen: Tommy/Keean
Last Billy/Michael pair seen: Noah/Jake Kitchen

Regards,

Mark

I will follow the criteria you have established. I have added a few of my own:

Best audiences: Hartford. Without a doubt.
Worst audiences: Jacksonville. Not terrible; just not into it.
Theaters with best stage door access: Schenectady, Boston
Coldest stage door wait: - Jacksonville
Least-liked set: Liked them all; all worked.
Least-liked visual: 2nd Tour’s dancing dresses (Ditto!)
Largest theater: Boston
Most forum members/fans present: Hartford
Deadest audience reaction, day of the week: Sunday evening, before load on
Best cast meet and greet: Straz (Tampa)
Most underrated performers: Ballet Girls, and Samantha Blaire Cutler (DITTO!).
Longest applause after Electricity: Noah Parets' last performance, Hartford
Most audible shouts during Angry Dance: Drew or Ben
Most surprising move: Noah's piano flip in his final show; Mitch's unbelievably fast pirouettes
Most f-bombs: - very rare on Tour; probably Hartford
Favorite scenes: Electricity; Angry Dance; Solidarity
Favorite blog: Away from OM: Tales of the Road (Noah's mom, and Noah).
Most seen Billy: Noah (10); Daniel Russell (8)
Most seen Michael: Jacob Zelonky, Jake Kitchin, Cameron Clifford - 8 each
Clearest cast signature: Drew Minard
Most shows in one city: Boston (8); Straz, Tampa (8)
Farthest travel distance to see a performance: Kennebunkport to Schenectady
First Billy/Michael pair seen: Daniel Russell/Griffin Birney
Last Billy/Michael pair seen: Mitchell/Cameron

Some additional ones:

Most consistently funny performances: Joel Blum
Most consistently sincere and heartwarming performances: Rich Hebert
Most endearing performances: Patti Perkins
Most 'gutsy' yet 'vulnerable' performances: Janet Dickinson
Best 'little trouper': Cal Alexander (Small Boy)
Most versatile in a number of roles: Ben Cook; Kylend Hetherington
Most deserving recipient of every grey hair he has earned, holding it all together: Bill Congdon
Most memorable event connected with a performance of BETM: Two at the same theater: a talk by former Billy, Tommy Batchelor, about his Billy experiences; and a 'flash mob' by several hundred kids singing 'I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing' in the atrium at the Kravis Center, Palm Beach.

50 shows on the Tour, Feb 2011-June 2103, in all...................

Both Peter Mazurowski and Michael Dameski are wonderful. I'm sure we haven't seen the last of any of them, as each and every one is amazing and sooooooooo talented!

I meant Michael Dameski but would gladly add Peter Mazurowski

In fact I would love to have seen EVERY Billy worldwide

Does any one know exactly how many there have been so far?
