Looking For Help To Fill in the Gaps

Recent posts here on the Forum and on Facebook, by long time fans of BETM regarding which Billy performed on certain dates in the past, has got me thinking.

As many of you know, there are significant gaps in the tracking of who played Billy in London prior to 2010. The data may or may not have been captured from the show's beginning in 2005 to 2010 and subsequently lost. At least it doesn't exist in the archives here or any other place online that I've been able to find. My records show that we don't have the information as to who played Billy for 119 shows between January of 2009 and January of 2011. Before 2009, there is almost no data recorded.

So I wondered if it were possible, by asking long time Billy fans who attended performances at the VPT in those years, to fill in those gaps from what personal records they may have (such as ticket stubs, notes etc). I've seen several people list the Billys they've seen since the first show they've attended, for example. Do those people have records to document when they saw a particular Billy on that list I wonder?

So I thought I'd give it a shot in at least reducing those 119 "unknowns". I'm asking for help in the above. We'll start with just one month and determine if there's enough of a response to expand the request to other months.

So starting with the month of June, 2009, I'm looking for who played Billy on the following dates: 2,3, 4 (E), 5, 6 (M), 9, 10, 13 (M), 15, 19, 20 (M), 29 -- where E = the evening performance and M = the matinee performance.

If you can help fill in the info for any of the above dates, please post the information in this thread. I'll then update my records.

Who knows? Maybe it'll lead to having complete records for another Billy or two as a result.

Thanks to everyone who has forwarded information to me on the Billy shows they've attended over the years. So far I've received info from five people, some of which is extensive. But every little bit helps... so if you have such records of your attendance at shows before 2010, especially the very early years in London (2005 to 2009), PLEASE send it along. I've begun entering the information into my spreadsheets and I'll give you all a report when I've completed my entry work. But be patient, as I've got quite a volume of info to get through

I wanted to give everyone an update as to my request for people’s personal records of the Billys they’ve seen in the past in London.

To date, 6 individuals have come forward with information. As a result, I’ve been able to plug in the Billys for 438 previously unrecorded shows. Thanks to all who have made this possible! Unfortunately however, between 2005 and 2011, there are still 996 unrecorded Billy performances out of about 3800 total shows.

While it’s doubtful that we’ll ever have a complete record of performances from the early years of the show, I’m still very hopeful that we can complete performance records for a few more Billys from the later years of that span.

While I will continue to welcome records anyone has from prior to 2009, either via a post here or an email or private message if you prefer, I’d specifically like to see if we can fill the gaps in the 2009, 2010, and 2011 years. If we were able to do that, we’d have complete records for an additional 5 Billys.

Here are the dates I’m looking to fill from 2011 and 2010. These are from the London production and all curtain times are 7:30pm unless otherwise noted.

I've been receiving lots of great information for Billy tracking in the early London days from a variety of people. Thanks so much for your input!! Some of this material has raised questions with me about the number and structure of the London previews (Mar 31-May 11, 2005). I'm hoping some of you "old-timers" can help out with my questions.

1) Does anyone know the exact number of previews? From what I understand, for the first week or two there was a reduced number of shows (from the "normal" 8 we're used to) while they worked out a number of issues in the show. My information is that, at least in the very beginning, previews only ran from Thurs to Sat, with no matinees. So my second question is...

2) Can anyone verify that and how long did that last?

3) Were there the full 8 shows being presented each week toward the end of previews?
