I returned to the Birmingham Hippodrome tonight for the first time since 24th April last year, the last night of the BETM run when Stephen Daldry was sitting just across the aisle from me, Haydn and Elliot were in a box just above me, and Emile starred as Billy.

I love the Birmingham Hippodrome, it's a wonderful theatre. Huge stage, great front of house facilities.

I hadn't seen Evita before, didn't really know anything about the musical other than it contained "Don't cry for me Argentina". I have to say I loved it. ATM any musical, you might have seen my comments made a few minutes ago about Les Mis, struggles to compare with BETM, and I can't in all honesty put it the unique catalogue of excellence that is BETM. But it was certainly right up there in the next best category.
