Here's a great article about how BETM inspired 11 year-old Ryan Lenkey to start dancing. According to this, he is working his way through the audition process for the show, having traveled to Orlando in February. Good luck, Ryan!

Re: The inspiration to become Billy
It is a nice story and I wish Ryan well in his quest to become Billy. If hard work and dedication to his classes mean anything, it certainly seems he has the motivation to succeed.
His qualifications as a trivia expert on the show, though, are somewat suspect
He is cited in the article as saying BETM's 11,000th show took place in May. One wonders where that number came from. If you were to add together all the performances from all of the productions of the show in all locations (including Blly Youth Theatre), you wouldn't come close to 11,000 (London, for example, just celebrated 2500 performances).
But, fortunately, being a trivia expert on the show isn't one of the qualifications to become Billy.
Good Luck, Ryan!

"He's only eleven, for ...." He's probably got a lot more of his information straight than many other candidates for the role.
