West Palm Beach Reviews

Post by BEtourfan »

This reviewer seemed to like Billy and the rest of the cast members (but not so much the music, choreography or set design). http://www.palmbeachdailynews.com/news/ ... en-/nWjD6/

The show’s musical peak could have been Solidarity, in which the striking miners sing in harmony about their eternal fidelity, if it weren’t a knock-off of Les Miz’s Do You Hear the People Sing.
Oh yeah, I mistake those two all the time. :?

I am writing this from Panera Bread a few blocks from the Kravis. I saw Noah last night, and Drew this afternoon.

I have no clue why the one paper review is negative. The Kravis is full and the audiences are as delighted as any I have seen. The two performances were absolutely stunning.

I had a chance to be at Tommy's pre-show talk last night, which was excellent.

Tonight's show is about to begin. I will write a proper review of all four events tomorrow - at the moment I am pecking - with limited success - on a tablet.

Rest assured - all is more than well in WPB!

Very curious that Mitchell didn't open the week in WPB. Hasn't that been the usual practice for Billys in their hometown? Would have guaranteed a wildly enthusiastic opening night crowd, even more than the norm for a Mitchell show.

Thanks, kport, for your excellent reporting all along the Florida swing. I have enjoyed reading the reviews these last few weeks. Your dedication to keeping the forum updated amidst the travel and challenges of tablet typing in Panera is highly appreciated.

This posted by the Kravis Center:

"Before the "Billy Elliot" performance on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, the Kravis Center, (WPB, Florida) audience was treated to a memorable tune driven in by a "Flash Mob". It seemed to be an un-ending stream of kids that took our grand staircase. Well done Young Singers of the Palm Beaches!"

One would hope that since parents/friends of the these kids knew they were going to be performing at the Kravis Center last evening, that at least some of them booked tickets for BETM to watch the show after their own performance.

Apparently it's not necessarily a given. In any case, Noah's grandparents live in West Palm Beach, so there is still a connection.

Very nice, and makes me feel much better since I'm still suffering backlash from Ms. V and her friends. =)
