Aww. I want to see. I gather he was invited to dance and he's doing a lyrical modern ballet just for fun. It'd have been nice to see him dance again (if only for 2 mins!)

Too bad I'll be at a certain West End show...

Tons of photos from the Centrepointe School Show in July 2009 can be found here.

I can't find a way to save the photos - if anyone can post them here - so here are the links to some of my favourites:

http://centrepointe09.fotopic.net/p61499626.html

http://centrepointe09.fotopic.net/p61499266.html - this in particular is pure perfection - from the tip of his hands to his pointed feet. Absolutely immaculate technique.

http://centrepointe09.fotopic.net/p61499457.html - sick! Matt in full flight!

The more observant will notice a certain Rhys Yeomans in the photo set as well. ;)

Because in London they're obsessed with the street versions!

I can understand that to the extent that Peter Darling and his associate choreographers have always used the strengths the Billys bring to their performance in terms of dance styles they are most experienced in.

But it seems to me that the storyline speaks to the ultimate goal of Billy becoming a ballet dancer (i.e. the import of being accepted by the Royal Ballet). Electricity is supposed to be the audition that gets Billy accepted into the Royal Ballet School. I'm not sure what the criteria of those auditions are, but I believe they look at the ballet technique a candidate has and try to judge the potential for the candidate to continue improvement in those skills at RBS.

Trent Kowalik is the best example I know of having a strength (tap dancing) that wasn't ignored (i.e. his expertise in Angry Dance and Express Yourself), but they put him through rigorous ballet training to the point where most say he is now very good in that dance genre. I'm sure that David and Kiril's expertise in ballet rubbed off on Trent too while they were all going through the many hours of training and rehearsal together.

Why not do the same with the London Billys?

I quite agree. In my mind the ballet version is far more graceful and appropriate and I have always much preferred it. I feel sure that if we end up in London with all street dancers then some of the 'regulars' may become far less regular.
