I found this on Youtube from Billy Elliot Australia - last performance. It's just audio with pictures added, but you get an idea of what Dayton sounds like.

As there have been no other names mentioned for future Billys on the horizon besides Liam Redhead, it makes you wonder if they needed someone who could start soon (i.e. "experienced") due to Alex being injured and Tommy leaving in a month. Not to say that Dayton couldn't end up staying for a year, but it might be a case of needing someone to help bridge the gap for a few months until the next batch of new Broadway Billys are ready.

This one has the start of Angry and the end of Dream Ballet.

An article which says Dayton has a 7-month role, though hopefully they're being conservative...maybe it's to do with the contracts.

 Also has some footage of him at stage door, plus angry and dream ballet. :D

My first post on this board! Got a pleasant shock this morning when I saw the news, and was so excited I felt like posting something  . Congrats to Dayton! Only managed to see you at your last Melbourne show and you were brilliant!

Very wishful thinking, if only one of the other Aussie billys could go to London/Chicago. London Billys seem to have been going fast and there's only 3 left now. :D

YAY THAT'S AMAZING!! :D
I am surprised though that it's taken this long...and that Dayton is the only one...maybe it is only because of time constraints as Todd mentioned because Liam may not be ready yet and Broadway doesn't have enough Billys at the moment...but who cares, Dayton's going to Broadway! Congrats Dayton!! Curious as to why they chose him though, because all of the Aussie boys were still young enough when the show finished. Maybe he was the only one who could make the big move to the States.

We can only speculate on why he was chosen, if he was the first and/or only choice. However, US Equity (union) rules restrict the use of "foreign" talent. It is even possible that they had to wait for Haydn to leave before they could bring another non-citizen into the cast, which may explain why they did not do this sooner.
Prolly never know, but it is great!
