Here's a nice article about Susie, Chicago's Dead Mum and Mrs. W. understudy.

Re: Susie McMonagle--Dead Mum
According to the Chicago Tribune, Susan McMonagle, who has been playing "Dead Mum" in the Chicago BETM production, while understudying the role of Mrs. W, will now take over the role of Mrs. W full-time for the remainder of the show's stay in Chicago.

Re: Susie McMonagle--Dead Mum
Susie returns home to play the role of Mrs. Wilkinson during the four weeks of shows in Denver beginning May 11th. I saw her in Chicago and she was an excellent Mrs. W. No mention about Faith Prince but I would imagine she is taking a well deserved break.

Re: Susie McMonagle--Dead Mum
I saw Susie as Mrs. W. a couple of times during my Chicago visit last June, and I have to say that she was wonderful in the role. Denver is in for a treat, and doubly so because it's her hometown.

Re: Susie McMonagle--Dead Mum
Not that she needs any choice words from me, but not only do I concur with the above posts, I thought she was absolutely fabulous in the many productions I saw her in Chicago. I was able to engage her in a lengthy conversation after one of her performances, given I was so moved by her presentation...deeply sensitive as Ms. W., her pacing, her very clear and perfect dialect given the accent required was never difficult to understand. She's a Chicago's own, and I was delighted she had the opportunity to hold down such a major role as Ms. W. You can bet she will bring great distinction to the part on tour, and you can also bet, audiences will simply love her. Just a personal opinion, of course. Regards, Colin
Re: Susie McMonagle--Dead Mum
I agree with Colin 100%. Susie was very real as Mrs. W. She played the right amount of emotion. Rough on the outside, but very motherly on the inside.
I saw Susie for most of the Chicago shows. It was always really touching to see her at the stage door with her own boys. She would often have them pose with her for fan photos.

Re: Susie McMonagle--Dead Mum
Susie is on as Mrs W in Tempe tonight. Intermission time but she has been awesome so far. No idea if this is her first time on the tour but at the talkback session after last night's performance, Kylend did mention they had done a "put in" rehearsal for a new cast member that day so I imagine it was for Susie.
I had never seen her in Chicago but I can understand the rave reviews.
Beverley Ward was Mrs W last night and I was very impressed with her as well!
