San Francisco

Post by porschesrule »

According to the San Jose Mercury News, BETM will play the Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco in September of 2011. As no end date was announced, it's not clear if this is part of the 2nd National US Tour or, more likely, it could be an extended run of the first US tour when that show finishes in Toronto.

I also received this through my google alerts. One thing that really confused me about the article was the question, "Where is the beginning?" The article seems to pick up in the middle of a sentence about Billy, but I could not find where it started. :? Did I miss something?

No. You didn't miss anything, Ellen. I searched the article through the newspaper's site directly and it's printed the same way there. Sorta strange like it was rushed into print or something. But the essential information was there regarding BETM, so I went ahead and posted it.

Note that the San Jose Mercury News fixed the article on their website and I've updated the link in my earlier post.

Broadwayworld.com has also published a story about the show playing in SF:

The 1st US (North American?) tour of BETM, which kicked off in Chicago, will play San Francisco after it's Toronto run, according to Theatermania.com and Playbill.com:

Another article about the San Francisco visit next year. The next to last paragraph is interesting for any Californians that missed the original Broadway cast.

“Billy Elliot” will feature Carole Shelley as Billy’s “Grandma”, Gregory Jbara as “Dad”, Haydn Gwynne as Billy’s dance mentor “Mrs. Wilkinson” and Kiril Kulish, David Alvarez and Trent Kowalik alternating as “Billy”. :D :D :D

Oh my! :o That's a good candidate for the new thread about strange inaccuracies in articles here: http://www.billyelliottheforum.me.uk/fo ... nge#p40275

Of course, Greg plans on being in the LA one, but I don't know about the SFO one.

Emily Richardson, a Chicago ballet girl, has tweeted:
Flying to Cali with Cesar and the ballet girls tonight <3
She had tweeted a couple of days ago about a "promo" rehearsal. Looks like they are already doing promo for the SFO production.

My Google alerts produced this from a San Francisco hotel, promoting the BETM 1st Tour stop there From September 13th, 2010 to October 11th, 2010.

Aren't those hotel guests going to be surprised when they find out they arrived for the show a year early
