Lex, from Irvine, CA, is also one of the six new Billys named by the NY Times. When we discover which cast he will be in, we will move his thread if necessary.

Congratulations, Lex! :D

One of the new American Billy's anounced in this article
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/20/arts/ ... billy.html

was Lex Ishimoto from CA. At press time, where each of the six boys would be playing the roles was not announced, however we all know that Kyland was going to the tour, and Peter and Joseph have been announced as going to Broadway. Tonight, I was looking up the new Billys, and I found this video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnSK9BgDbNY
In the information about the video it says:
A SPECIAL DEDICATION to one of our youngest KM Littles Lex Ishimoto, who has been with the team since the beginning. We wish you the best of luck and you make us proud! on landing the lead role of Billy Elliot the musical that will be touring the US!D

So it appears Lex will be joining Kyland and Mikey on the tour!

Thanks for that link, CinderellaGal. And welcome to our forum. :D

Kreative Movement has a couple of public facebook pages as well. This one seems to be the more official of the two I have found. If you look at the list of dancers on the Info Page, Lex's name is there.

There are a lot of group photos on the photo page, but no lists identifying who is who to go with any of the pictures. But I am sure that Lex is in them somewhere. 8-)

I wonder if Lex will be the first US street Billy. Seems reasonable, given his background.

Thanks :)

And You are right, that does sound reasonable. So other than Dayton, Lex will be one of the few street billys

I was chatting about maybe going to japan for the new show there sometime in the future and the name Lex Ishimoto was raised. Is he an American japanese or another background. It does not matter except if he could speak Japanese, would he be still around long enough to open the Tokyo version?

Regarding the new Lex Ishimoto video for Durham.

Find a preview video of Lex and the other Billys at: http://www.youtube.com/user/DPACLive

From that, the only query I came up with:

Having just noticed it for the first time, and not finding any discussion here already, I have to ask what is up with Lex Ishimoto's singular pigtail?

Look at about 39 seconds at the Meet Billys video for Durham. Lex has a banded pigtail that must be 8 inches or more attached to his right side scalp from behind the ear at some level.

So is it a "cool" thing, or a "religion" thing or what?

Anyone know about this?

More importantly, is Lex planning to keep the braid through his tour, or is it coming off sometime?

A lot of Billys have to go through Billy Haircut day, but Lex's braid is long enough that maybe he can donate it to "Locks of Love" or a place like that. They sometimes have length restrictions, and start only at 10 inches, so dunno.

I noticed that a couple of them referred to playing Billy in "the triangle." Any North Carolina natives know what that refers to ? I'm going to throw out a guess: Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill (3 cities, thus the "triangle") . . . but I may be way off.

You nailed it Todd.

I had heard that term in earlier promotional material for the 2nd Tour and had looked it up:

I am not a native of NC, but I lived there for 33 years, so here's the answer: The triangle is Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill. The term is short for "Research Triangle." Because there are three very important universities (NC State, Duke, and the University of North Carolina) in these three cities, many companies needing engineers and other "brainy" types set up headquarters in the area. The NC School for Math and Science (a public school that draws the cream of the crop from high school students all around the state) is also located in Durham.

I was fortunate to see Lex in Durham, and I agree. He is the all around complete Billy package. And like you I thought his Electricity was spectacular.
