Re: Wicked

I have seen Wicked from the rear orchestra and the rear mezz of the Gershwin. If you're a fan of the show, seeing it live will be a thrill, wherever you sit. Live performance is something truly unique that you must be there to experience. My favorite viewing of the show was mid-orchestra at the Durham Performing Arts Center. However, Nicole Parker was my second Broadway Elphaba, and was grand enough in her portrayal (while still human) that I was able to immensely enjoy her performance from the back of the mezz. I will not lie and say moments like "For Good" lose appeal when you are so far away. For five minutes there are two figures onstage standing in the same spots just singing to each other. But if you love the characters and the song they're singing, you will enjoy Wicked wherever you sit.

Yes, you should be able to purchase tickets at the box office if you wish. But Wicked is still a very popular show in NY, so you may want to purchase before the day of the performance you want to attend.

When I saw it, we bought the obstructed view seats in the Orchestra. But the rest of our row was empty so we just scooted right over and had better seats :-)

the article talks about a possible movie. I like the idea, but would be thrilled if they had Idina Mentzel and Kristin Chenoweth as the leads. They did it with the producers, so they should here too.

Elphaba and Glinda are in their late teens when the story starts and mid-twenties by its end. Idina will turn 42 this year and Kristin 44. Much as I love the both of them, I think they're too old for the roles now.
