That is a Sydneycentric piece and gives a false impression of the state of play.

Melbourne has currently Mary Hoppins and Hairspray before Sydney , and Wicked and Jersey Boys also premiered here before Sydney. The announcement by Andrew Lloyd Webber the leading roles in Love Never Dies to open in Melbourne in May, is expected in the next few days.

Melbourne theatre scene is alive and well.
