Adam Cooper

Adam Cooper gave a talk this evening at The Aylesbury Waterside's Second Space. He described his career from dance class to Arts Ed (London) to RBS at 16 years and on into the RB Company. Since then he has worked with Matthew Bourne, most famously in his Swan Lake and then choreographed musicals such as White Christmas and Liason Dangereuse. He loves to sing and act as well as to dance. Currently he has lots of projects on the go including choreographing a piece for Tring Park School where his wife, Sarah, is a visiting teacher. Adam lives locally.
I was able to ask for his advice to a 13 year old Billy leaving BETM and wanting a career in ballet. The advice was to keep all skills going including singing and acting. Ballet dancers have a short performing life and may need to broaden their horizons. Interestingly, Adam's brother Simon has also been a ballet dancer and now works with the Rambert Company as rehearsal director.
