Consider the thread about vacations around New York City, but not in Manhattan. From all directions there is public transportation direct to Broadway. No need to overnight in the city.

I stopped at The Hilton Newark Airport and it cost me about $85. I had a fantastic room and it took about 30 minutes to get into Penn Station.

Re: Hotels & Dining - New York
Just booked a trip for a long overdue Billy trip with the family in December. Our regular spot, when we can get it for the right price, is the Sheraton New York (a few blocks from the theater). A few weeks ago, I checked and prices were sky high. Yesterday, I got on Travelocity and they had dropped drastically.
Now, it may have something to do with that little warning that there's going to be construction while they are "re-brightening" rooms. But, they did say there would be a several floor buffer between us and the construction, so we threw caution to the wind and booked it.
Will let you know. As long as there aren't jackhammers at 3 a.m., it could be a bargain for an old favorite.

There are a number of pretty good hotels just across the river in Long Island City that are about 100 bucks cheaper than Manhatten prices and can be reached easily from Broadway on the subway.
20 mins on the N line direct to 39th ...... so long as you are happy dealing with late night subway trips (i've never had any problem with a little care).
There's a Holiday Inn and a Quality Inn that i've used a very short walk to the subway.

There's also my favorite a little further out on Queens Boulevard, the Pan American Hotel: http://www.panamhotel.com/James.R wrote:There are a number of pretty good hotels just across the river in Long Island City that are about 100 bucks cheaper than Manhatten prices and can be reached easily from Broadway on the subway.
Approximately a 30 minute subway ride on the R line early morning to late evening, E line overnight. The 24 hour a day Q60 bus to/from east mid-Manhattan at 2nd Ave & 60th St has stops in both directions on the hotel block. The hotel receives overwhelmingly (95% plus) favorable reviews on Trip Advisor: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review ... _York.html
Using the hotel's online reservation system https://66.134.28.194/iqreservations/ rooms can often be booked for around $100-$120 a night, certain times of the year even less (last March I had $79 a night.) For best rate, pick the limited service "green" rate if available; I found that despite the "limited service" the bed was made and room tidied up each day. If "green" is not available, pick the "online promo" rate.
This is where I'll be staying for my Billython next month, my third 5 night stay in just under a year. Obviously, I like and am comfortable with the hotel and location; otherwise I wouldn't be such a repeat guest.

We still need this info for a little while, anyway. This is a funny, but useful guide to hailing a cab in NYC.

It's about 2 miles from the theater. It's on east 29th street. I'm not sure if its any good. Here are some reviews.

Reviews on Tripadvisor are not too bad. If you are looking for a hotel close to the Imperial Theatre, this one is about a 15-block hike. Of course, you can take the Subway or a cab.
