The Royal Wedding drew people from around the world as well. But of course it was only a one day thing; whereas, the Olympics will go on for much longer.

They thought the same about the Royal Wedding and put the tickets prices up in anticipation. Ticket sales that week were very poor so let's hope they get it right for the Olympics .
The Royal Wedding and the Olympics are two different animals. The Olympics will draw people from all around the world, tourists who are most likely going to want to explore London and all that it has to offer. I could definitely see a boost in ticket sales then, but of course I could be wrong.
London Tourism has predicted a drop in normal tourism because of the Olympics. :?

New York theatre writer, Jonathan Mandell, on his public twitter, has listed the summer box office winners and losers on Broadway. He lists BETM as one of the losers :(

Also to keep in mind, that since there has been no adjustment made to the call, September 12th they are still having an adult chorus and adult principal equity open calls for "future replacements" on both the Broadway and touring productions. (Although the touring one is obviously being removed even if not officially on the call, production companies don't cast for other production companies). Just a thought, and the average pore sale right now for tickets on Broadway (specifically musicals) ranges from March to July, very rarely do they sell farther in advance than that.

I would like to see the definition of 'losers'. Have they not made a profit, or simply not fared as well as others? If the latter, I would not be too worried.

Remember, this is a tough economy right now.

This article mentions the struggle that several shows, including BETM, are having to fill seats. Looks like the profanity in the Broadway show is going to be toned down in an effort to attract school groups.
And the team behind the hit “Billy Elliot,” which began turning a profit in 2010, is hoping that creative changes, including the elimination of some profanity, will help draw more families and school groups.

This is sad, but probably necessary: the story is still strong without it. London will continue to deliver the real Billy Elliot.

There is now a separate discussion about the "tweaking" going on here: http://billyelliottheforum.me.uk/forum/ ... 015#p61015

As noted above, there is now a thread for discussion of the issue of cutting the profanity and tweaking the show. Please carry on discussion about those particular issues there. I have moved the last few posts on the subject to that thread.
