Riot in the UK today

I am watching live coverage of an event in Essex.....the Police are raiding a traveler's (gypsies) encampment - more a small village - in Essex - in order to remove the whole encampment which has been ruled illegally occupying private/public land.

What strikes me is that the police are straight out of 'Angry Dance' - black riot uniforms, black riot helmets, all carrying perspex riot shields and batons, marching in a straight row - and the residents being evicted are shouting 'scabs' and worse. One boy (about 11) was just shouting "effing b-stards" and giving the two finger salute. It is so like the real events of 1984 that I remember. It will be over very soon.

Whatever the legalities, this shows that things have not changed very much over here.
