Here's wishing a speedy recovery to Redmand who had to retire indisposed three-quarters way through last night's show. Hopefully, he will be back treading the boards very soon.

Thursday, April 3rd, 2014 - matinee
I arrived in London at 11.30am and was lucky enough to grab a ticket for the matinee that afternoon – and I really do mean lucky. This was nothing short of a master class from Redmand, as he is right at the top of his game. When he finally leaves Billy Elliot I’m sure people will be queuing up for him as he has everything. To say he is a triple threat is the biggest understatement since Noah said it looked like rain. I feel though that his stand out attribute is his acting. You need to see him a few times to appreciate his timing, all the subtle eye movements, facial expressions and hand gestures. This does not, of course, detract from his singing and dancing which are also top notch.
Redmand also comes across as a thoroughly pleasant boy. When he takes a bow at the end of the show he says “Thank you” to the audience. I also noticed when he puts the tutu on during the finale he looks directly at the audience and interacts with them. I am sure the company and his family are, quite rightly, very proud of Redmand but more importantly he should be very proud of himself.
