Yes, I saw Sam tonight; his first performance was assured and very funny. Reminiscent of Griffin Birney. Sam is a great tap dancer....and what a singing voice! It will be a pleasure watching him grow into this role.

Got to see the show 3 times in Boston but missed seeing Sam. I was not aware that he was joining the cast. I just discovered this thread and reviewed his web site. This kid has an impressive history in the theatre. I can't wait to see him. Welcome Sam.

According to Twitter and a public Facebook post by Sam's teacher, Landon Shaw, Sam will be taking a sabbatical from BETM for the next month or so while he does some work in NYC. He'll skip the next three BETM tour stops and will rejoin the tour in Baltimore in December:

"Was able to go see student Sam Poon as Michael in the National Tour of Billy Elliot in Indianapolis. Sam and the whole cast did a great job! He is now off to NYC to do a workshop production of "Fly" and then he rejoins the tour in Baltimore! Way to go, Sam. I am so very proud of you!"

I'm looking forward to seeing Sam as Michael next week in Baltimore. Some others here may have responded as well when asked for our addresses for autographed pics. I laughed so much when I saw how brilliant his signature is.

"To all my fans out there, I wanted to let you know that I will be leaving the tour of Billy Elliot in a few weeks. My last show will be in Vegas on May 19th. I am moving on to another exciting project, but I cannot announce it yet. Details will soon follow....stay tuned. Until then, I have 32 shows of Billy Elliot left! Come see me in Costa Mesa, San Diego, San Jose, or Las Vegas!"
