A collection of photos from opening night at Pippin, published on the show's public Facebook site:

I loved that the original Leading Player, Ben Vereen, was at the revival's opening. Such great memories.

Here's a video from last night's performance on Letterman. It is hard to take a big number from the theater and move it to a TV stage, but I think this does show some of the circus-y dancing quite well. You will never think of exercise balls in the same way after this. ;)

The cast of "Pippin" performed on Good Morning America today. If you haven't heard Matthew James Thomas sing before, you are in for a treat. :D

I was in New York this weekend and caught PIPPIN for a second time. I saw it very early in previews back in March and loved it, but wanted to see it again. I am glad I did as there were a few minor enhancements. The circus theme is an incredible, brilliant way to stage this show! It deserves every Tony award it won, and then some. Andrea Martin as Grandma stops the show every night with her number in the middle of Act I, and she usually gets a standing ovation.

I knew it! 4th or 5th row orchestra, right side, Saturday evening, correct? I said to myself (from the 8th row), "That guy looks a whole lot like Chris." But that was late in intermission and obviously I didn't come over and query. Next time.

Anyway, I will second Chris' assertion how enjoyable Pippin is a second time. One can notice more details and appreciate the amazing performances all around. How many other shows do you have the ensemble performing one jaw-dropping feat after another?

My memories of the Cambridge show 6 months ago are too fuzzy to do much of a direct comparison, but one thing for sure is a step up in NYC: Real fire! :o In Cambridge, there was just projection of orange/yellow flame lights.

If you know an actrobat or contortionist who wants to be in a show, "Pippin" is looking for cast replacements.
