Because it was live, I think you would have to expect to see the wires. It was not just a regular tv show with cinematic special effects. The few effects that were used for Peter's shadow, Tinkerbell, and the fairy dust were typical of a stage production, and so were the wires. You see the wire in Billy Live, so why should this live performance be different? Actually, I thought they did a good job of using the commercial breaks to unobtrusively attach/detach the wires, although I hated the commercial interruptions.debbiefan wrote:I like it but I think they should of done better wires because I can see wires well enough and I think that wouln't be good if you can see it. That's just my oppinion. Also flying was a little boring
As for the flying being boring, well, it was traditional "Peter Pan" flying. Again, without doing some kind of doctored special effects, I don't think it could really have been made more spectacular.
On another note, it looks like "Peter Pan" is going to be part of the Northern Ballet's programming soon:

Now this flying might turn out a bit better. By the way, the guy in the light green shorts is Matthew Koon. He must be feeling a little bit of deja vu.
The NBC production was intended to look like live a stage production, albeit with no proscenium. I suppose they could have gone for a "movie musical" look, but I don't really think they could have done that live.
